whine about band camp trauma

my mom made me be in marching band in the 9th grade. i absolutely hated it. the kids in there were a mixture of geeks and preps. and there i was... ehhh not classified? i was the quiet girl who's parents did not have much money and had little self confidence.
so i go on stupid band trips, i march and play my damn flute. i try to fit in with the group of girls in my class- Laura, Ashly, and Lisa. :P nice happy preppy names. (no offense to any with those names.) i more or less tag along with them on the hotel trips and stuff.
that following summer after one year of band hell i throw a king sized tantrum and my parents "allow" me to not take band the next year.
thanks ma. that year of being stung by bees, dodging flying batons the manic band director threw, and feeling like a complete outcast really enriched my life somehow. i'll never forget you

Thank the gods I was never stuck in band!! My parents tried to force me into girl scouts, and piano lessons. I wasn't very good or interested in piano, but I kept it up for about a year. I totally hated girl scouts (actually, it was brownies. All they did was sit around and color!) I dropped out after a couple of months.
i was a girl scout for about a week.
i quit when we started doing crosstitch and found out that the boy scouts were off at an archery competition.

damn that sexism!!!
I wanted to be in band SO BAD when I was in 4th grade. Then by 5th grade I was glad my parents made me take choir instead. Yay!
see, i started really late... like in the 7th grade!
so all the other kids had a 3 year advantage on me and there i was playing catch up. actually i got pretty good within a year and a half despite all that. but i still felt like a weirdo and was sooo angry that my parents couldn't understand how yucky that situation was.

yes, be glad your parents pushed choir! what would peroxide mocha do without you?
I hate marching band. I was in it for one year and had to march and play the damn cymbals. After that I told myself enough with the damn marching band crap and never looked back. ::Shudders at thought of it::
right on my suffering sistah! (or brotha)
preach it!

band sucks band sucks band sucks
i had to be in dumb chior when i was younger, its not that my mom would really make me, she would just through a fit and cry if i didnt i mean... she wanted me to be a happy little girl but i wanst... but she loved those concerts and got so happy... to see me up there : )
that's how she was- so happy to see me at the recitals and concerts.
but it was like, she was in marching band in highschool and thought it was wonderful so she couldn't understand why i didn't.
